Swimming Lessons (and donuts)

Swimming lessons are a childhood necessity, in my opinion. Have I mentioned this already? Whether through the YMCA -- now apparently just the "Y"-- or a community center, neighborhood or base pool, the ability to be safe in and around the water is not something you want to mess with. Ours are 4 times per week for 2 weeks. The real trick is getting them into the pool in the afternoons without their floaties to practice what they've been learning.

And today after swimming lessons, we stopped at Krispy Kreme to get a donut and wound up standing on chairs and watching through glass as more donuts were being made. It was really fun to watch... and cheap entertainment! But Happy Donuts in Altus, OK, we still miss you!

  1. Jill, I always love reading your posts. If the kids loved the donuts, try reading the book Arnie the Donut. It is a great story. It is by Laurie Keller, a native of Kansas City. She got the idea for the story by going to Krispy Kreme and watching the donuts. Miss you.
